EBSOMED WEBINAR: Attracting new projects and protecting its economy from predation

28/10/2021

Within the framework of the EBSOMED project, ANIMA Investment Network organized on October 28, 2021, an online academy for the benefit of business support organizations but open to all entities interested in the topic of how to attract new projects while protecting its economy from predation.

The health crisis has triggered two movements in terms of investment policies: Some countries have taken advantage of the crisis to attract new investments and benefit from a movement of relocation of value chains. Other countries have feared predation by external investors on their national enterprises, especially those weakened by the crisis.

What are the strategies to reassure and motivate former investors? What are the strategies to select new external investors and protect strategic companies for their territory? In an effort to answer these questions, the webinar addressed the role of investment, promotion and facilitation in post-crisis recovery, including supporting healthy business climates and focusing reforms on facilitating investment and promoting digitalization and sustainability.

Speakers examined strategies at work in developing countries, and in OECD countries, and the practical case of the national strategy in Egypt was presented.
