IPEMED and BUSINESSMED join forces to bring closer the economies of the Mediterranean

Within the framework of the project EBSOMED, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 17 September 2018 between BUSINESSMED (Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises), represented by its President , Ms. Saida Neghza and The Mediterranean world Economic Foresight Institute (IPEMED), represented by its founding President, Mr. Jean Louis Guigou.

The Memorandum aims at improving the ecosystem of Euro-Mediterranean companies and supporting development economic and social development of the region.

The two organizations highlighted the need for a closer cooperation in order to maximize Euro-Mediterranean cooperation at bilateral and multilateral level. the strengthening of Mediterranean business networks in search of new models of development and in particular that of co-production, where a model that could soon be replicated in Algeria, was on the agenda. Particular attention has also been given to economic rapprochement on both sides of the Mediterranean through the industrialization of North Africa in key sectors such as energy, water and agro-industry.

During his intervention, Mr. Jean Louis Guigou called on all actors in the vertical, Europe, Mediterranean and Africa, to double their efforts to unveil the full potential of economic integration, trade as well as Africa's business environment.

About IPEMED

The Mediterranean world Economic Foresight Institute (L’Institut de Prospective Economique du Monde Méditerranéen - IPEMED) is an independent Euro-Mediterranean think tank. It was established as a non-profit association under the French law of 1901 since its creation in 2006. Its main aim is to integrate the countries to the North and South of the Mediterranean via economic means. IPEMED raises awareness of the common future and the convergence of interest of the Northern and Southern countries of the Mediterranean.

BUSINESSMED (Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises) is the main representative of the private sector that reflects the interest of 22 Confederations of Enterprises around the Southern and Northern Mediterranean Countries. Since its creation in 2002, BUSINESSMED became a key platform for multilateral cooperation dedicated to its confederations Member, a promoter of foreign direct investment, a lever for Mediterranean dialogue and socio-economic integration.
