As part of the EBSOMED project, ASCAME and its affiliates will produce a strategic paper on Sustainable Tourism Strategy in the post COVID-19 context in the Mediterranean region, guided and supervised by the Sector Alliance Committee "Sustainable Tourism 2020 in the MED post-COVID-19 scenario", online on 17 December 2020. The tourism sector is recognised as a key area for successful trade integration and economic development, taking a major role in the new economy and sustainable growth.

Different tourism experts from different countries will give input on these subjects with the objective to get an overview of the state of the art of the sector in their different Mediterranean countries, highlighting existing challenges and opportunities and proposing ways to move forward in the sector.

The Sector Alliance Committee (SAC) will give feedback on the document and will discuss the results during a SAC meeting open to EBSOMED beneficiary participants, which will guide the finalisation of the document.

The objectives of this activity will be an Action Plan on Sustainable Tourism Strategy in the post COVID-19 context in the Mediterranean region. The objectives of this action plans are to :

• Create a strategy and orientation regarding Sustainable Tourism
• Determine the strategic lines of action within this sector, which will later form the framework for new European initiatives and policies
• Capitalise on previous EUROMED Invest strategic papers including and following  recommendations produced for potential future initiatives
• Highlight points about existing and future business opportunities between both North and South shores of the Mediterranean
