EBSOMED presents the opportunities of green growth on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Conference in Cyprus
The 9th Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe" organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe was held on October 6 and 7 in Nicosia, Cyprus. During the conference, delegates adopted a Ministerial Declaration recognizing the urgent need to "build back better" the tourism sector following the consequences of the health crisis but also facing a certain climate emergency.
Taking advantage of this event and the variety of participating guests, BUSINESSMED organized the EBSOMED conference "Opportunities for Green Growth in the Mediterranean" which brought together Euro-Mediterranean experts to discuss the avenues and policy directions to foster a green transition in the Mediterranean countries, in light of the changes in the global economy that were already underway, but which have become more important due to recent events.
The Director of the EBSOMED project, Jihen Boutiba, moderated these exchanges and called for the need to look at ways to achieve an inclusive and sustainable green transition in the Mediterranean region. The different interventions underlined that to ensure this, a diversified mix of public and private investments and commitment at all levels, including that of the business communities, creating a variety of green jobs especially for women and youth, is needed
