In the framework of EBSOMED, the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) and BUSINESSMED organise a Business Matchmaking Forum. The 2-day event is organised under the theme "Towards an Innovative Paradigm for Sustainable Development across the Mediterranean' and will be held on April, 15th and 16th, 2019 in Egypt, Cairo.

The overarching objective of the event is the consolidation of strong business networks across the Mediterranean and will gather more than 80 Economic operators.

Business communities from Europe and Southern countries will be presented in order to discuss on how to improve business relationships between the two shores of the Mediterranean and find innovative ways to have a better business and investment climate.

The first day of the event will be opened jointly with the CSR Conference by Ambassadors and local ministers. Following the opening, a Ministerial Roundtable will take place and will discuss how creating alignment and synergies between government policies, private sector initiatives and civil society organizations’ needs can lead to successful and sustainable regional and local partnerships.

Two thematic panels will follow the Ministerial roundtable and will be framed with regard to the partnerships-related Sustainable Development Goals. The first panel will focus on the promotion of business partnerships & creating synergies in the Euro-Mediterranean Region. Experts and BSOs representatives will discuss the main challenges facing creating partnerships between South - South companies/BSOs and South North companies/BSOs. The panel will constitute a strong supporter of Regional economic integration and aims to promote synergies at the sub regional level, and set up economic cooperation process in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The second panel under Impact of supporting vocational training and education on economic growth will be dedicated to key lessons on developing ‘dual vocational training’ to support the labour market insertion of youth and best practices in dual education and empowering women and youth in disadvantaged areas.

The discussions will highlight the main features to support vocational training and education. Recommendations on improving cooperation between all stakeholders and develop a common PPP vision will be formulated by the speakers.

The second day will be dedicated to B2B meetings and companies’ presentations and will be an opportunity to strengthen the economic partnership and mutual exchanges between participants.

The originality of the EBSOMED matchmaking event is to add practical elements to the discussion sessions. The second day is therefore articulated around discussion sessions and companies’ presentations but also B2B meetings between participants coming from different Mediterranean countries and mainly Egypt.

Overall, the event aims at improving the attractiveness of Mediterranean ecosystems and providing interactions and synergies between actors from the two shores of the Mediterranean.
