ASCAME organises a Business Matchmaking Forum on Logistics and Transport in the Mediterranean
The Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) has organised in Barcelona on the 26th and 27th of June an EBSOMED Business Matchmaking Forum, in the framework of the MedaLogistics Summit, the reference event in the Mediterranean Logistics and Transport sector, which was a great asset and good opportunity for all attendees to network.
The Business Matchmaking Forum that was implemented in the form of round-tables and debates, and included a networking event targeting the European and Mediterranean markets, brought together more than 100 participants, representatives of the Mediterranean Business Support Organisations and the private sector, who were interested in networking with other Mediterranean companies from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, France, Italy, Croatia and Greece, among others.
During his intervention, Mr Jamil Mujahed, Former Minister of Transport of Jordan talked about the best practices of his country: "The last 5 years have been key for the exploitation of the port of Aqaba, which has become a first-line facility. After 15 years, congestion charges in the port of Aqaba have disappeared replaced by great improvements thanks to reforms carried out by the government to better manage the port issue."
The different interventions served as a basis to determine the main lines of action to build more competitive Transport & logistics sectors in the Mediterranean economy, as well as give ideas on how to better cooperate within companies from both shores. The forum concluded by emphasizing the key role of skilled human capital, whose skills are regularly improved and updated, towards an efficient and competitive transport system.
