BUSINESSMED held on the 15th of September 2021 a webinar to present the results of the study realized within the Employers’ Thematic Committee “Gender Mainstreaming and Women empowerment”.

Developed within the framework of the EU co-funded EBSOMED project. This committee was created in 2018 with the aim to promote gender diversity in the Euro- Mediterranean Region with a special focus on women on board.

Speakers from the different regional organization such as the UFM, the OECD, AEFEMME and the Women entrepreneurs’ initiatives underlined the progress made in the region on the improvement of the legal framework covering women equality and gender empowerment, especially in the work put forward by Mediterranean countries to include a gender perspective in the recovery policies. The experts stated that it is important to put forward policies increasing the number of women in senior position not only within the public sector, but also within the economic one, which, as studied proved directly result in the improvement of economic performance.

The webinar was the occasion to present the 2nd periodical survey following the empirical results of the study and to learn more about gender equality policies and role of women in the post-COVID recovery in the UfM countries. It also allowed the dissemination of good practices favouring gender diversity and measuring gender diversity across industries and Mediterranean countries.
