On 29 July 2018, EU Ambassador to Egypt, Mr Ivan Sorkus, ASCAME and Alexandria Chamber of Commerce President, Mr. Ahmed El Wakil with Alexandria Governor and EU member State Ambassadors, announced in a press conference the new EBSOMED project, in the presence of leaders of Business Support Organisations BSOs.

Dr. Alaa Ezz, Chair of the EBSOMED Executive Committee, presented the project and its activities aiming at strengthening capacity building of BSOs in view of enabling them to promote trade and investment efficiently.

Ambassador Sorkus highlighted that the EU is the first partner in the fields of trade, investment, technology, training and education in all Med Countries.

President El Wakil mentioned that besides this project federations and chambers were short listed in 17 Cross Border Cooperation CBC projects with a total value of 42 million euro, he hoped that at least half would reach implementation stage.
